Firearm Credit Card Processing
Signature Payments has been providing firearms merchant accounts to businesses for over 20 years. In fact, we specialize in secure payment processing for high-risk clients that might not qualify for merchant accounts from traditional providers.
Why are guns and ammunition merchant accounts high risk?
Firearm merchant services are considered high-risk primarily due to reputational considerations. The industry has been the recipient of bad publicity, causing most banks and providers to avoid offering gun-friendly credit card processing. When sold online, firearm sales often result in chargebacks in which customers deliberately reverse the payments through their banks after receiving shipped items.
Signature Payments has a long history of serving firearms merchants, and we understand their unique needs. Our experience in this high-risk space uniquely positions us to provide the solutions and support you need to grow your business securely and with peace of mind.

Common Questions About Our Firearms Merchant Accounts
What types of firearms industry businesses do you accept?
Signature Payments accepts a wide range of retail, eCommerce and mobile-based businesses related to weapons and firearms including ammunition, gun parts & accessories, shooting ranges (with or without rentals), firearm training and courses and gunsmithing/custom builds.
Is Signature Payments compatible with my existing firearms Point of sale?
Because Signature Payments works with most major payment gateways (including Authorize.net, ePN and NMI), our merchant accounts integrate with most firearm retailer software. If you have questions about a specific point of sale, please reach out to us. We’d be happy to answer your questions.
What is FFL?
FFL stands for Federal Firearms License. Firearm manufacturers and dealers who ship or receive guns and ammunition require an FFL to conduct business.
What if my credit history is less than perfect?
Technically, your credit score does not affect your merchant account rates. However, a Personal guarantee is a requisite in almost all cases. Additionally, depending on the business type and other factors, we may consider your creditworthiness when determining your eligibility.
What criteria does my firearms business need to meet, to be approved for a merchant account?
That will depend on your specific business but in general businesses must provide bank statements/processing statements showing strong performance, clearly stated refund policies and well-defined price points and packages. If selling firearms, an FFL is required. For more information on the criteria your business needs to meet, contact us and we’d be happy to discuss your business needs.
What kinds of credit cards can I accept?
With our firearm payment processing solutions, you can securely accept all the major credit card brands, including Mastercard®, Visa®, American Express® and Discover®. In addition, your Signature Payments merchant account allows customers to pay via check, debit card, mobile wallet and electronic benefit transfer (EBT).
